The Philosophies of an Educated Athlete

The mainstream will have you believe to lose weight you need to eat less and run for hours. If you become ill you need to see a doctor who will probably give you some drugs to fix it. If you're too stressed or depressed you need to see a psychologist who will give you more drugs to fix that. If you have back pain, knee pain or you find it hard to move then you're just getting old. The educated athlete knows better. He knows what you eat, when you eat, hormone optimisation, sleep and recovery, being yourself, digestion, movement, stress management, and cutting out toxins all have a much, much bigger effect on illness, depression, pain and weight than any drugs, age or counting calories will ever have. The educated athlete takes responsibility for their own health, doesn't blame others or look to others to provide a magic cure. They know that even if they are lean, that doesn't mean they're healthy. They don't accept information just because it comes from authority, they only accept information that has scientific and evolutionary proof and even then they are open to be proven wrong. These are my philosophies. My goal with this blog is to share the what and the why, the real science behind healthy behaviours (it's not the stuff on TV!) but do it in a way everyone can understand. I tend to ramble because I get very passionate about this stuff but if you can get through it you can be an educated athlete as well. A lot of the knowledge of an educated athlete is not spoken about in conventional circles. The fact that your body works with nutrients (vitamins, minerals and other nutrients) NOT calories! How important hormones are to your health. Why don't people get told about this? The effect movement has on your overall well-being, not just exercise. And how mindset can make the difference between smashing your goals or not even starting. These are the things I will cover as they relate to everything health. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you!
