Everyone can exercise

When it comes to getting and staying fit there are many options, however the first step is to either want to, or feel compelled to, get out there and do it.

I hope and trust you are aware of the many benefits of exercise and maintaining your fitness but many people just tend to struggle making it a priority. And, unfortunately, exercise is just not that enjoyable for some people which makes it even tougher.

But it's a bit like travel, if it's not your thing, maybe you just haven't been to the right spot. If you're not big on travel, you probably don't want to go to Bali like everyone else. If you think the only option for exercise is lifting weights like Arnold, running on a treadmill or doing a step class, there are many other destinations that might have more appeal to you.

Social Sport

When it feels more like play than exercise and you're doing it with friends, you're much more likely to enjoy it and often you don't even need to join a team. Things like tennis or golf can just be enjoyed with a friend or 3 at your local court or course and it's great fitness that practically anyone at any age can do! There are dozens of other sports that you can take up socially to keep you moving.

Yoga/Pilates

If throwing weight around getting "buff" isn't for you, maybe the slower pace of a yoga session is for you. These days there are so many online yoga instructors that you could get started right in your living room. Of course, make sure you start with the appropriate level for you! Or you can always find your nearest yoga or pilates studio.

Kettlebells

Kettlebells seemed to be a big thing a few years back but it seems, to me at least, they have fallen out of favour somewhat. It's a shame because they are an incredible tool that can achieve many different goals, from strength to cardio, mobility to weight loss, kettlebells can do it! There's a bit of learning with kettlebells up front so we would recommend finding someone who can teach you proper technique (like our kettlebell classes!) but if you enjoy learning unique skills, the kettlebell might be for you!

Calisthenics

No, not the dancing group sport. Although that can be great fun and fitness too! I'm talking about essentially bodyweight training. There are so many exercises you can do just with your own bodyweight, so much so that there are people out there that get incredible results with nothing but this style of training. It's great if your not into lots of equipment, can be done at home or at the park and being able to control your own body is incredibly important, especially as we age. Another one with lots of online information and videos to follow.

Boxing

For those who really enjoy feeling fit, but can't think of anything worse than running, boxing is an incredible option. It trains your whole body, gets your heart rate going and improves balance and coordination. Plus it's insanely fun in a group workout and it can be scaled for just about anyone. My oldest client that does boxing with me is about to turn 75, so it's not just a young persons game! We currently have an incredible deal on our boxing classes if this is something you might be interested in...

10 classes for just $80!

It's a great opportunity to try something new and see if that might be the thing that gets you moving.

Whether you decide to give one of these a try, have a go at something else entirely, or you're already doing something, I really want to encourage you to exercise for your health. If it's not something you've embraced in the past, please reach out to me and I can give you tips to help you get started in a way that doesn't make it feel overwhelming.

There's not many things more empowering than taking control of your health and fitness, give it a shot and let me know how you go!
